What We Believe at Legacy St. Pete
At Legacy St. Pete, everything begins and ends with Jesus. We believe Jesus is renewing all things, and He invites us to join Him. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture, shaped by the Holy Spirit, and lived out with grace, truth, and love.
God
We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—perfect in love and actively restoring the world.
Jesus Christ
Jesus is Savior, Lord, and King. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He brings forgiveness, freedom, and renewal.
The Holy Spirit
The Spirit empowers us to follow Jesus, grow in holiness, and serve with spiritual gifts.
The Bible
Scripture is God’s trustworthy word and the foundation for faith, formation, and mission.
Humanity
Every person is created in the image of God with purpose, dignity, and worth. We are also deeply affected by sin—personally and collectively—and in need of rescue. Jesus renews us from the inside out so we can reflect His image to the world.
Salvation
We are saved by grace through faith—rescued from sin, restored to purpose, and called into the family of God.
The Church
The Church is the people of God on mission. We exist to reach the lost, teach the Word, and love our city.
The Kingdom of God
The Kingdom is Jesus’ reign breaking into the world. It transforms hearts, confronts injustice, and restores what’s broken. We join God in His renewing work—here in St. Pete and beyond.
Christian Formation
Discipleship is the lifelong process of becoming like Jesus. We follow Jesus through spiritual practices, community, generosity, and lives marked by compassion and integrity.
Spiritual Gifts
The Holy Spirit gives gifts to build up the Church and serve the world, including wisdom, prophecy, healing, teaching, mercy, leadership, and more. We pursue the gifts with humility, discernment, and love—the true mark of spiritual maturity.
Christian Justice & Compassion
We care for the vulnerable, fight for the oppressed, and seek renewal in our neighborhoods and city.
Marriage, Sexuality & Christian Sexual Ethic
We hold a historic Christian sexual ethic: marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman, and all believers are called to honor Jesus with their bodies. Every person is treated with dignity, patience, and grace. We recognize that conversations around sexuality are deeply personal, and we commit to walking with people pastorally, not politically.
Human Life & Dignity
We value life from the womb to the last breath. This includes advocating for children, families, the elderly, the vulnerable, and those without a voice. Every person reflects God’s image and deserves honor, protection, and compassion.
The Future & Renewal of All Things
We believe Jesus will return to fully restore creation and make all things new. He will judge evil, heal the world, and establish His eternal Kingdom. Our hope isn’t escape—it’s renewal. Until then, we live as people of hope, joining God in His renewing work today.
Our Posture: Grace + Truth
Everything we believe is held with a posture shaped by Jesus: firm in truth, rich in grace, and ready to love.
As a church in St. Pete, we are committed to walking with people—not rushing them, not condemning them, and not compromising Scripture.
We follow Jesus, we trust Scripture, and we love people deeply.
This is the way of renewal.
